The Story Behind Journeywomen

Almost a decade ago, Hunter Beless filled the hours her husband, Brooks, spent training with the U.S. Army by listening to podcasts. Back then, people hardly knew what a podcast was, and Christian shows were mostly limited to two extremes: sermon audio or small talk. So, while walking the streets of Fort Hood, she dreamt of creating a podcast for women that bridged the gap between the two. And from the floor of her very tiny closet, this dream came to fruition with the launch of the Journeywomen podcast in June of 2017.

Since the very beginning, our heart at Journeywomen has been to help women know and love God and his Word, find their hope in the gospel, invest deeply in their local churches, and go out on mission for his glory.

What began as one podcast has grown into a ministry reaching women around the world. By God's grace, tens of thousands of women have tuned into the Journeywomen podcast each week from nearly every country around the globe. Over the years, our team has grown, we've launched a blog, recorded live podcasts, hosted pop-up shops, and created hundreds of podcast episodes and free downloadable resources to encourage women in their walk with Christ.

More importantly, we've received countless messages from women who have come to faith, become involved in a local church, grown in their hunger for God's Word, or been encouraged to disciple others as a result of engaging with Journeywomen.

Ten Years of God's Faithfulness and What's Ahead

As we approach ten years of Journeywomen in June 2027, we are filled with gratitude for God's faithfulness through every season of this ministry. He has graciously allowed us to steward Journeywomen through years of growth and change, and we are humbled by the ways he has used this work in the lives of women around the world.

After many months of prayer, conversation, and seeking wise counsel, we've made the difficult but important decision to transition Journeywomen into what we're endearingly calling the Legacy Phase on June 7, 2027.

In this new season, we will no longer actively produce new podcast episodes, website resources, or social media content. However, we remain deeply committed to keeping our existing library of more than 250 podcast episodes and other biblical resources free and accessible to women around the world for years to come.

While the way we steward Journeywomen is changing, our heart for the ministry remains the same. We continue to pray that God will use these resources to encourage women to know and love him through his Word, find their hope in the gospel, and invest deeply in their local churches.

Since the launch of Journeywomen, God has graciously provided for this ministry through advertising partnerships and the generosity of listeners and donors who share our mission.

As we enter our final months of actively creating content, your generosity will help us finish this season of ministry well and prepare for the Legacy Phase.

Every gift received through June 7, 2027, will help support our final season of content creation and the ongoing costs of preserving and maintaining our existing library of gospel-centered resources.

Our hope is that long after our final episode airs, women will continue to discover Journeywomen resources that encourage them to open their Bibles, grow in their love for Christ, and invest in the life of their local churches.
