How the Resurrection Impacts Our Everyday Lives with Kristy Hunter
Happy Easter, ya’ll! On today’s episode of the Journeywomen podcast, I chatted with Kristy Hunter about the resurrection! We talked about how the resurrection we’ll gather together to celebrate this upcoming Easter Sunday is actually something we can celebrate all the time! She said, “At our church, we talk about how we celebrate Easter every week. We don’t celebrate the risen Christ just on Easter. He’s seated at the right hand of God. He’s there. It’s not just once. He died and rose once. But because he lives we celebrate every week and every day.”
Our entire conversation is centered around the reality that Christ’s life, death and resurrection change every area of our lives as believers every single day! So you’ll know her a little better, Kristy was a friend of a mentor of mine back when I was in college! She’s also been married to Justin for almost 16 years and she’s the mama of two boys, Stevens and Stiles. They make their home in Northwest Arkansas--Woo Pig! She loves the life God has given her even though it's the life she never dreamt she'd be living. I can’t wait to share her passion for the Gospel with you guys today!
Can you tell us a little about who you are and what you do?
The resurrection of Jesus is foundational to the Christian faith, and yet, we so often only give it real thought around the Easter season. But the resurrection of Jesus is so important that Paul writes, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins” (1 Corinthians 15:17). And later he says, “If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied” (19). In light of what Paul teaches, I think it's safe to say that the resurrection is vital. But before we go there, I think we need to lay the foundation for why we needed Christ to come. Can you help to lay a foundation for why we desperately need the life, death, and resurrection of Christ?
What does this mean for us? What are the effects of the resurrection?
This whole concept sounds crazy. How do we know this actually happened?
Why is the resurrection an essential element of the Gospel?
As Christ-followers, what longings are filled by the resurrection?
How does the reality of the resurrection flesh itself out in our everyday lives?
What would it look like to live in light of the resurrection as a mother? As a college student? As a (business) professional?
How can we do a better job of preaching the resurrection to ourselves? To others?
