Worship with Edith Moyana
On today’s episode of the Journeywomen podcast, I chatted with Edith Moyana about worship. I had a really chaotic week and you’ll be able to hear that in the middle of the episode I was totally overwhelmed by God’s kindness to me as he ministered to me through Edith in the confines of my very own closet. I really pray he does the same for you as you listen to this episode wherever you are today!
So you'll know her a little better, Edith Moyana was born and raised in Birmingham, AL. She is a member of CrossPointe church where she serves with children’s ministry and on the praise team. She is married to her wonderful husband, Reuben, and is mother to two beautiful little girls, Joy and Jaida. A veterinarian by profession yet presently a full-time homeschooling mom. She currently serves as a patient advocate with Sound Choices pregnancy resource center and as a board member with Clement Arts. I can't wait for you guys to hear from her!

NOTEWORTHY QUOTES
"Worship is to honor or respect someone or something. As a follower of Christ, worship is a lifestyle of knowing the one true God and making him known."
"As believers we are called and commanded to worship the one true God. It’s absolutely right to worship him because he is worthy of our worship. It’s not just something we do on Sundays or once a week. Worship becomes a lifestyle of everyday choices and everyday decisions and our expression of who God is to us."
"No one or nothing is worthy of God’s worship. He alone is worthy. Anything or anyone that occupies the throne of our deepest affections and adoration, that thing becomes an idol."
"Knowing God is not about knowing facts about God."
"Knowing God is about having a relationship with God."
"From the infancy of our salvation we are humbled. God graciously strips us of any right to boast in ourselves."
"Humility is realizing that the very breath in your lungs is a gift from God."
"Obedience should be demonstrated vertically between us and God and horizontally between us and others."
"Without humility, without love, without obedience our worship is vain."
"We cannot know God or obey his commands apart from his Spirit."
"We strive to know God and understand God more when we get in the Word."
"The Word is our offensive weapon when we are facing trials and tribulations."
"Having a prayer life, and letting the Holy Spirit inform us in how to pray, are all a part of worshiping God."
"God’s worthiness to be worshiped is not based on my feelings."
"Followers of Christ are called to worship in the midst of suffering."
"It’s not about a feeling, it’s about him being worthy and deserving."
"When we gather together with other believers it’s a time to fellowship as one body, to edify one another, to exhort one another, to sing songs of praise together, to pray, to observe communion, to carry out discipline, and to hear the word of God preached together."
"Corporate worship isn’t just for the believer, but God uses [corporate worship] to draw unbelievers to himself."
"Worshiping together is the local church. Gathering together in a small group setting is also a good setting to get to know others and to be known."
"We remind each other of the hope we have in Christ when we get together."
"We all worship something, but if it’s not for the sake of God’s renown then it’s in vain."
"Everyday choices, our lifestyle (how we behave in front of our children, how we honor and respect our husbands, how we honor the Lord in purity as a single), whatever walk of life we’re in, it should all be to the glory of God."
"It all goes back to the object of our worship."
"Worship is an issue of the heart."
"Knowing God and making him known. Ultimately it’s all about God’s glory. Worship begets more worship. The more we know God, the more we will want to make him known."
"We share the Gospel, the Good News, that the holy God of the universe has reconciled sinful man to himself through the shed blood of his son Jesus, the spotless lamb, who alone can satisfy the just wrath of God having extinguished the penalty of sin by his death and resurrection for all who would repent and believe he’s given the right to be called sons and daughters of the Most High. Praise God! That produces worship."
"Missions is not the ultimate goal of the Church. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn’t. Worship is ultimate, not missions, because God is ultimate, not man. When this age is over, and the countless millions of the redeemed fall on their faces before the throne of God, missions will be no more. It is a temporary necessity. But worship abides forever." - John Piper
"The aim of all of our worship is for the glory of this great God that we serve."
